This FAQ provides answers to the most commonly asked questions about The Caring Foundation grant funding. If you have questions not covered here, please email them to TheCaringFoundation@bcbsal.org.
Non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations within in the State of Alabama or with associations in Alabama are eligible for Foundation grant funding. Any funds awarded must be used for Alabama based organizations and/programs.
We fund organizations that seek to improve the Health, Wellness and Education of Alabamians.
The 2024 Grant Cycle begins on January 1st, 2024, and ends on November 15th, 2024.
Organizations may submit a request for funding once a year. If you have applied for funding in the past, the timing of when you were awarded in previous years will determine when you are eligible for additional funding the following year. For example, if we awarded you in August 2023, you would not be eligible to receive funding again until August 2024. If this is your first time applying, we ask that you give us at least 60 days to review your application.

The foundation does not fund capital campaigns.
The funding committee meets twice a month to review submitted applications.
No, but the request should be a reasonable amount that represents what you feel your organization needs. The Foundation’s goal is to fund a wide variety of organizations and projects across the state. The final awarded amount may be less that what is requested depending on the committee’s decision.
No you will not be penalized, but we will fund at the level in which the committee feels comfortable.
Yes! Eligible Organizations can apply for both The Caring Foundation grant and a Corporate Giving & Sponsorship grant. Since we fund an organization only once a year, ALL request must be submitted at the same time.
We only fund K-12 schools through the Be Healthy School Grant.
You will received an email notification from TheCaringFoundation@bcbsal.org when your application is submitted.
The contact person listed on the grant will receive an email once a grant has been approved or denied for funding. If approved, that email will include follow-up steps that must be done before a payment can be issued.
The grant funds will be sent by EFT for direct deposit.
